Overview
NTSE exam is the National level scholarship program by Government of India and the most venerated exam of India. It is not only about scholarship but a matter of great pride and honor for every student to be recognized as the nation’s talent. The NTSE (National Talent Search Examination) examination is conducted every year at two levels – Stage I (State level) and Stage II (National Level). NTSE Stage I is conducted by States and NTSE Stage II is conducted by NCERT.
Eligibility Criteria
Every state sets its own eligibility for the NTSE stage I examination. However, stage II NTSE eligibility will be slated by NCERT. Aspirants should satisfy NTSE eligibility criteria at both stages to appear for the examination. Read below to know the NTSE 2022-23 eligibility criteria before filling the applications.
NTSE Stage I Eligibility Criteria
- Students currently enrolled in class 10 from any recognized school/board including Sainik Schools, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navodaya Vidyalaya were eligible to apply for stage I of the NTSE exam 2022-23.
- States cannot impose domicile restrictions for stage I, however, they may add additional eligibility conditions such as the qualifying score of the previous class.
- Students studying from the open board, below 18 years of age, unemployed and appearing in class 10 for the first time are also eligible to appear for NTSE 2022-23 exam stage I.
- Only Indian students are allowed to appear for NTSE stage I exam.
- Students studying outside India can directly appear in stage II exam.
NTSE Stage II Eligibility Criteria
- In order to appear for the NTSE stage II exam, students should qualify the stage I or state-level NTSE 2022-23 exam with the minimum qualifying marks.
- For the continuation of the scholarship, candidates must be appearing in the class 10 exam for the first time.
- Some States require candidates to score a minimum of 55 % marks in class 9 to apply for NTSE exam 2023.
- Indian students studying abroad in Class 10 or equivalent class can directly apply for NTSE stage II. They must obtain at least 60 per cent marks (in aggregate) in class 9th.

How to Register
- Registration and Downloading Application Form
- Visit the official website of NTSE.
- Click on the link ‘Apply for NTSE 2023’.
- Fill in the following details like your Name, Date of birth, Mobile Number, Email ID, Educational Qualification, etc.
- After filling in all the credentials click on ‘submit’
- Download the NTSE Application Form
- Filling Details in NTSE Application form – Candidates have to fill in the following details in the application form in their own handwriting:
- Basic details, Category, Address, and Educational details, etc.
- Candidates have to affix their photograph and signature in the provided space.
- Candidates have to attest NTSE 2023 application form from their Principal.
- The application fee as specified by the state/UT needs to be remitted by the candidates.
- Candidates can submit their application form in the Liaison Office via post or by visiting the address of the liaison officer.
